The Faculty of Science – Alexandria University received a student convoy from Mustafa El Naggar Language School on Tuesday 2/3/2016 in Moharam Bek building. The visit came in the framework of community service and environment development under auspices of the Dean Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ismail Abdo.

The visit began with a general lecture delivered by Dr. Mohamed Anas; the Lecturer at Department of Physics then the students visited Department of Geology to attend a lecture by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aziz.

The students also visited Department of Zoology where Dr. Wafaa Othman and the Demonstrator/ Norhan Zaghlol delivered lectures. At the end of the visit, the students visited Department of Plant and

Microbiology and the plant garden where the Assistant Lecturers Dr. Iman Hussein and Dr. Soliman Toto, and Demonstrator Mohamed Ashraf delivered lectures. Such activities are considered as a preparation for the students for university and to broaden their knowledge as cooperation between Faculty of Science and the Ministry of Education. 

During the field trip organized by the Petroleum Geology Program in the faculty from 24 to 28 of February 2016, the students of the fourth level studied the geological formations in the Gulf of Suez

Rift in the west south of Sinai and studied the sequential layers and its indications for oil traps in the Gulf of Suez. The trip is one of field training for students of the program.

The trip was under supervision of faculty members and some experts and advisors of international petroleum companies like:

Prof. Dr. Fathy Hasan; the General Coordinator of the program

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mustafa Al Sabbagh; Assistant Professor at the Department.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Niazy Barkoky; the International Consultant and Assistant Professor at Geology Department-Cairo University

Dr. SalaH Abbas; the Petroleum Free Consultant for international companies.  

The Faculty of Science – Alexandria University received a visit from Ali Mubarak Private School on 1/3/2016 in Moharam Bek building. The visit came in the framework of community service and environment development to visit the plant garden of the faculty in order to see rare plants used in the study and scientific experiments. Such activities are considered as a preparation for the students and to broaden their knowledge. 

The Faculty of Science family, Alexandria University honored one of its sons; Prof. Dr. Essam Khamis who occupies the position of Deputy of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The ceremony was held on Friday 12/2/2016 in Kristal Hall in Tulip Hotel in attendance of Dr. Roshdy Zahran; President of Alexandria University, University deputies, faculty members and former rectors.

The ceremony began with the ward of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ismail; Dean of Faculty of Science talking about faculty proud of one of its sons and scientists with a distinguished history in scientific research. He also congratulated Dr. Essam Khamis for being assigned in this high post and wishing him more progress. Prof. Dr. Roshdy Zahran spoke about the story mutual struggle with Dr. Essam since conducting common researches till being university deputies and wished him more success and progress.

Then, Prof. Dr. Hasan Nadir and Prof. Dr. Hend Hanafy; the former Rectors of Alexandria University talked about their relation with Dr. Essam Khamis and stated that he always had a clear vision and thinking through his career in the university and during the period he was director of Research City in Borg El Arab where he established the Science Parks.

Prof. Dr. Essam Khamis thanked all attendants and presented some ideas for scientific research in the next period and urged faculty members to register and use the Egyptian Information Bank

inaugurated by Mr. President with many advantages and useful data bases for scientific research.

During the ceremony, the Rector honored Dr. Essam Khamis for his continued generosity and successful scientific history.

At the end of the ceremony all attendants thanked Dr. Essam for what he has done for the faculty and the university. Dr. Essam also thanked the all for this nice ceremony and memorial photos were taken that reflected the goodwill between them.
