The Faculty of Science – Alexandria University held public lecture entitled “Evidences on climate changes in Egypt and the world” under auspices and attendance of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ismail Abdo Dean of the Faculty and

Prof. Dr. Alaa Eldin Ramadan; Faculty Deputy for Community Service and Environment Development in addition to faculty members. The lecture was held on Tuesday 22/12/2015 at 10:00 in the Blue Hall in the faculty. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Hisham El Askary; the Assistant Professor at Department of Environment Science and President of Natural Disasters and Climate Changes Program in Chapman University-USA. Dr Hisham discussed climate changes and resulted problems on Egypt and the world through a presentation of expected scenarios and related results from the significant increase of temperature. He also mentioned the effect of aeroplanktons and dust storms coming from the Greatest Desert, Himalaya and China reaching to the western coast of America.

Dr. Hisham also discussed some problems that exacerbated the black clouds above Egypt in recent years without any solution till now and he attributed this to the wrong understanding towards the sources of these black clouds which is supposed to be a result of straw burning but the facts indicated that this is one reason among many others such as dust transforming from the Algerian desert to Cairo and the Delta and other sources from inside Egypt. Dr. Hisham indicated that these results were published in prominent scientific periodicals.

Dr. Hisham also talked about obvious effects of anthropogenic interference on the marine environment of the Red Sea that led to severe declines in coral reef and was highlighted and commented by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration [NASA].
