1-    The department has organized Ibn Sena international conference in 2000.

2-    It offers a number of post experience training courses. For example: 28 – 30 April 2002, “Corrosion Monitoring of Metals, Testing and Control”, 20 – 22 January 2003, “Corrosion Protection of Metals by Material Selection & Cathodic Protection”, 19 – 22 July 2004, “Corrosion Inhibitors, Scale Formation & Antiscalent, Cathodic Protection”, 27 - 30 June 2005, “Corrosion Control of Metals & Alloys by Cathodic Protection & Paints”, 16 - 19 January 2006, “Corrosion Resistance of Pipelines, Marine Utilities and Metallic Constructions by Cathodic Protection”.

3-    It organizes weekly seminars in different branches of science in cooperation with industry, other departments of the faculty, departments from other universities and research centers.

4-    It provides industrial consultancies to:

A linkage between Egyptian and American Universities entitled: “Extract of Some Natural Plants for Corrosion and Scale Control for Cooling Water Systems", Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Alexandria University, Egypt, and University of Tuskegee, USA, 2008 - 2009.
  • Funded project from National Science Foundation (NSF). A linkage between Egyptian and American Universities entitled: “New Coating Formulations Containing Natural Inhibitors For Steel Corrosion Control", Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Alexandria University, Egypt, and University of Tuskegee, USA, 2004 - 2007.
  • National project funded from Department of Environment, Egypt entitled: "Use Rice Straw As New Corrosion Inhibitors for Metallic Structures and as New Composite Materials", Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Alexandria University, Egypt, 2003-2006.
  • Funded project from the Egyptian Foreign Relations Unit (FRCU) of Supreme Council of Universities/USAID under University Linkage Project II between Egyptian and American Universities entitled: "New Low Toxic Paint Formulations for Marine Corrosion Control", Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Alexandria University, Egypt, and University of Tuskegee, USA, 2001 -2002.
