The Faculty of Science, Alexandria University held the closing meeting of the Committee of Community Service and Environment Development Sector for the year 2014/2015 on Wednesday, 8/7/2015 at 10:00 am faculty building in Mohram Bek. The meeting was held in the Green Hall and headed by Prof. Dr. Alaa El Din Ramadan Mustafa; Faculty Deputy for Community service and Environment Development. After the presentation and discussion of the latest works of the committee, a delegation composed of faculty members visit the Hospitality House in Moharam Bek for Children who suffering from Cancer affiliated to Red Crescent Society. The delegation inspected facilities of the Hospitality House of clinics and visited patient rooms.

The Faculty of Science obtained appreciation and thanking statement for its assistance and contribution it provide for the House within faculty role in community participation.

The Faculty Council of Science – Alexandria University during its recent session on 12/7/2015 accepted a present to faculty library from Prof. Dr. Osama Mohamed Mokhtar; the Professor Emeritus at Department of Physics. The present is two new books in physics with a cost of 1100 EGP. The Council also approved another present from Prof. Dr. Antwan Morkos whish was a book entitled “Places People, Tools Oceanography in the Mediterranean and beyond” costs 380 EGP. The Council also approved a present from Mr. Osama Kandil; the teacher in Zizienia secondary school which was 23 English books in computer and 12 CD’s with a cost of 213 EGP.

The Faculty of Science, Alexandria University organizes the First Scout Festival of the Egyptian Faculties of Science. The inauguration will be on Tuesday, 28/7/2015 at 11:00 am in the Faculty of Science building with the participation of 450 male and female students and supervisors from all faculties of science of Egyptian universities.

 The festival is held under auspices of Prof. Dr. El Sayed Abdel Khalek, the Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Aziz, the Minister of Youth, Mr. Hani Al Missiri Alexandria Governor and Prof. Dr. Rushdi Zahran the President of Alexandria University.

The festival aims to develop the level of Scout groups in all faculties of Science and to try to take advantage of these capacities and young leaders as well as emphasizing the role of Scout groups in community service environment development through applying the slogan of public service. It also aims to raise awareness among youth of their rights and responsibilities toward the country during the current period and in the future. 

The Faculty Council of Science, Alexandria University during its session on Sunday 12/7/2015 approved PhD degree in science for the student Nader Said Mustafa in the Department of Chemistry. The Council also approved Master’s degree in science for 13 students in various departments of the faculty.
